What is the history of Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre?

Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre is a family-owned maison located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in the charming Premier Cru village of Chamery. Created in 1980, maison is the fruit of the union of two families Winemakers : the Bertrand and Delespierre families. This alliance has enabled us to consolidate our expertise and passion for producing great terroir champagnes. Today, the fourth generation, represented by Clémence and Adrien Bertrand, is at the helm of Winery, continuing the family legacy with brio.

With a vineyard of around 10 hectares spread over the communes of Chamery, Ecueil and Villedommange, classified as Premier and Grand Cru, maison stands out for its environmentally-friendly approach to viticulture. Winery is committed to converting toorganic farming, reflecting its desire to produce authentic champagnes while respecting biodiversity and the natural balance of the soil.

 

Today, Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre has established itself as an independent maison , where every step, from vine cultivation to bottling, is carried out with meticulous care. Each cuvée is the expression of the unique terroir of the Montagne de Reims, combining tradition and modernity to offer champagnes of great finesse and complexity.

Winery also offers guided tours of the cellars and vineyards, where participants can explore family plots and discover environmentally-friendly viticulture methods. The tours explain the different stages of production, from the manual harvesting of grapes to the traditional champenoise method used to produce champagnes.

Which grape varieties are grown at Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre?

The vineyards of Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre benefit from the rich terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, where three emblematic grape varieties of the Champagne region are grown:

  • Pinot Noir: Winery 's dominant Grape variety , Pinot Noir, accounts for around 60% ofGrape varieties. Grown on the limestone and clay-limestone soils of Chamery and Ecueil, it lends champagnes robust structure, red fruit aromas and complexity.

  • Pinot Meunier: Occupying around 30% of the vineyard, Pinot Meunier brings roundness and fruity aromas to champagnes, with notes of apple and stone fruit. This Grape variety typical of the Champagne region is perfectly adapted to the climatic conditions of the Montagne de Reims.

  • Chardonnay: Chardonnay, which accounts for 10% ofGrape varieties, is used to bring freshness and elegance to the cuvées. The plots located on the chalky soils of the Montagne de Reims produce grapes of great finesse, offering floral and citrus notes to the champagnes.
