Which wine to drink with salmon?

Salmon: the fish of choice for festive meals

Mmh salmon, it's probably my favourite fish! You too? That's good, we're going to cook it for the next meal. On the tables of Christmas and New Year's Eve meals, we regularly find salmon. Which salmon with wine? 

There are many ways to cook your salmon. As a starter you could perhaps cook it raw or as a tartar, with a lemon, garlic and chive sauce for example.

There are also many possibilities for hot dishes: smoked, grilled, in a sauce or en papillote! Accompany your salmon with a pan of vegetables, a beurre blanc sauce etc. Indulge yourself and your guests should enjoy it too. 

Which wine to serve with salmon? 

For raw or smoked salmon, choose a white wine that is not too strong. For example, a muscadet, a chenin from the Loire, a wine from Savoie or a simple burgundy will go well with it. For a smoked salmon, you can also accompany it with a champagne, the bubbles go well with the smoked salmon. 

For a salmon in sauce or grilled, we will look for white wines that are a little more powerful. A Burgundy appellation such as Meursault, for example, or a more structured Chenin d'Anjou. We can even go as far as marrying it with bancs de macération wines or orange wines. Structured rosés or light reds with acidity will also make very good wines with your salmon in sauce.
