What's the story behind Winery du Facteur?

Le Winery du Facteur is a Winery winery located in the heart of the Loire Valley, a region renowned for the diversity of its terroirs and the quality of its wines. Founded by François-Xavier Barc, Winery takes its original name from his first job: letter carrier. This atypical career path inspired an equally singular approach to winegrowing. In 2016, François-Xavier decided to change course and devote himself to his passion for wine, creating Winery du Facteur.

Today, Winery covers some twenty hectares, mainly in the Montlouis-sur-Loire and Touraine appellations. From the outset, François-Xavier has been committed to organic viticulture, respecting biodiversity and natural balances. Winery is certified organic and continues its transition to biodynamic viticulture, with chemical-free management of soil and vines.

Le Winery du Facteur has quickly established itself as one of the region's leading winemakers, thanks to the quality and authenticity of its wines. With an emphasis on preserving the terroir and highlighting local grape varieties, each cuvée is a unique expression of the Loire Valley, reflecting the passion and commitment of its creator.

What wine tourism activities are offered by Winery du Facteur?

Le Winery du Facteur offers an immersive wine tourism experience, ideal for wine lovers and those curious to discover the terroir of the Loire Valley. Visitors can take part in organic wine tastings, where they will have the opportunity to discover the different cuvées of Winery, including natural sparkling wines (Pét-Nat) and still wines from Montlouis-sur-Loire and Touraine.

In addition to tastings, Winery also offers guided tours of the vineyards. These privileged moments allow visitors to discover the organic and biodynamic viticultural practices implemented by François-Xavier Barc. During these tours, the secrets of terroir and natural winemaking are shared in a friendly, educational setting.

Le Winery du Facteur also organizes special events, such as participative grape harvests, where wine lovers can learn how to work the vines and enjoy an authentic experience close to nature.

Which grape varieties are grown at Winery du Facteur?

Le Winery du Facteur cultivates mainly traditional Loire Valley grape varieties, known for their adaptation to local climatic conditions and their ability to produce wines of great finesse. The emblematic grape varieties grown at Winery include :

  • Chenin Blanc: Grape variety the flagship of Winery and the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation, Chenin Blanc is renowned for its ability to produce white wines of great aromatic complexity. At Winery du Facteur, Chenin is available in dry, semi-dry and sweet wines, as well as in natural sparkling wines, with aromas of white fruit, honey and minerality.

  • Cabernet Franc: This Grape variety red grape, emblematic of the region, is used to make elegant, fruity red wines, with notes of red fruit and spice, as well as freshness on the palate. Cabernet Franc is mainly grown on plots in the Touraine appellation.

  • Grolleau: Grape variety typical of the Loire region, Grolleau is used to produce rosé and light red wines, marked by red fruit aromas and lively acidity. It is often used in the Pét-Nat cuvées of Winery.

These grape varieties, grown without chemical inputs and with a respectful approach to nature, enable François-Xavier Barc to produce authentic wines that faithfully reflect the terroir of the Loire Valley.
