We're telling you about their Winery
The Winery Complémen'Terre (Muscadet), is a dozen or so parcel-based vintages (except Nolem) without sulphites (of course), incredible in tone and beauty! Just like their two winemakers, Manuel Landron and Marion Pescheux. "Travel forms youth". The two lovebirds followed the proverb to the letter before settling in December 2013 in the vineyard that saw them grow: the Muscadet. A vineyard which saw the couple also formed, before leaving for the adventure. It all started at the time of the harvest at Winery of the famous Jo Landron, Manuel's father. Marion gives a hand while she is a history student and wham! she meets Manuel... Yet the young man is about to leave for New Zealand, in Aotearoa. He leaves, she stays here and has no taste for college. During a telephone exchange with Manuel, she decides to join him. Marion climbs on a plane, about twenty hours of flight and hop, she finds herself back in Central Otago! In addition to falling in love with the future winemaker, she falls in love with the job and goes through a New Zealand Winery who works in Biodynamics. They will then both go to Chile to continue discovering and learning from Louis-Antoine Luyt, before considering returning home. This one will initially be in Touraine. Marion will follow a training in viticulture and oenology in Amboise while Manuel will do his training for two years with Xavier Weisskopf, then with Lise and Bertand Jousset, in Montlouis. | At the same time, the couple prepares the next step (yes, not crazy!), he takes care of a hectare of vines in the family Winery in the Haye-Fouassière. A successful life-size trial, it is high time to take action. Manuel turns to his father, Jo - and his famous moustaches - who selects a panel of plots for the pair; 4 different terroirs within a 2 km radius only. In particular, there are the 2.5 hectares destined for the production of the "La Croix Moriceau" cuvée, vines that saw a few bunch predators (ah the nasty worm!) at the beginning of Manuel and Marion's takeover. Problem solved with the installation of a hedge to filter the bugs. There are also the 70 ares of "Mortier Gobin", planted in the 1970s on orthogneiss, sandstone and clay, then pampered to get THE wine of Winery. For the vinification, you have to go to the neighbouring village, Le Pallet. Here, the couple has set up the headquarters of Winery Complémen'Terre, the family home and the cellar. Some large underground vats and a nice assortment of aerial vats. |
