Find out more about Box 100% MorgonThe Morgon appellation is THE best-known and most extensive of the Beaujolais crus, with an average altitude of 305m and the highest point at Mont du Py. Morgon is also distinguished by a number of climats, including :
1/ Morgon Côte de Py 2022 - Jean Foillard. - Firstly, because Py's climate is an ancient volcano with special soils rich in basalt. This terroir produces dense wines with red and black fruit and kirsch notes. It's a climate that really has great ageing potential and gives the term "Py" its full meaning.Morgonner" |
2/ Morgon 2023 - no sulfite added version - Winery Marcel Lapierre (Mathieu et Camille). Marcel Lapierre, who passed away in 2010, was the benchmark for non-invasive winemaking. Today, we speak of the Lapierre school, as many winemakers subsequently learned from him (Jean Foillard, Jean Paul Thévenet, Yvon Métras, Guy Breton, etc.).
Today, the Lapierre family's Morgon wines are still perfect examples of Beaujolais-style vinification (carbonic maceration in whole bunches), with little extraction, preserving the freshness, fruit and skeleton of the Gamay grape, and adding little or no sulfite. A Morgon which, without being on crazy terroirs, is still incredibly fresh, fruity and long on the palate. Lapierre's touch 3/ Morgon - Iron 2022 - Winery Les Bertrand (Yann Bertrand). This is a new cuvée from Yann Bertrand. A 50/50 blend of young vines and vines from the Dauby climat. A soil rich in iron and manganese gives this cuvée its name "Iron". It's also a sulfite-free cuvée. Yann's signature: fruit++ without excess, with present, fine tannins and a fresh, long finish.
