The Winery Marine Bonnet and Pierre Cotton
The new generation of BeaujolaisComing from the same generation as Jules Métras and Yann Bertrand, Pierre Cotton hopes to give a boost to Beaujolais, too often deserted by young talents. Hail to them! The career of the young Pierre Cotton is quite unique as he did not study in Mâcon, Bel Air or Beaune, like most of his contemporaries. He preferred to study in the Loire, near Rablay-sur-Layon, doing internships with local natural winemakers. " I thought it was stupid to stay here where I know the wines by heart. He then returned to work at the family's Winery with Guy, his father. The Winery Sanvers & Cotton works well, with very few chemical interventions in the vineyard and a conversion to organic is on the agenda, but Pierre wants to go further. He intends to make his own wines there. The size of the family winery allows him to do this quite quickly and he launched a Côte-de-Brouilly under his own name in 2014. A natural wine "100% CottonVinification with indigenous yeasts, carbonic maceration in cement, before ageing in tuns. The 2014 The "100% Cotton" wine underwent an 18-day maceration at low temperature before being aged in casks for about 8 months. |
New natural wines!Total production was around 17HL. At the same time, Pierre Cotton is taking on an increasing role in the vinification and marketing of the family's Winery wines and is predicting promising wines for the coming vintages. "We're going to try and change a bit, I find that in filtration we lose a lot." Guy Cotton, for his part, seems just happy to see his son getting involved at Winery. Being around Chenin during his time in Anjou has also given him ideas, so Pierre is keen to make a white wine. He intends to take over a plot of Chardonnay on the limestone in Charentay for 2016. In 2015, he expanded his range with 2 ha of Gamay in Beaujolais in the same area and made a cuvée in Vin de France. Finally in 2018, Pierre was joined by Marine Bonnet who joined forces to create a new Winery : Bonnet-Cotton! An exclusive vintage Petites CavesIn 2020, we are very proud to have collaborated with Pierre Cotton in the elaboration of an exclusive cuvée Petites Caves : Mix of Cotton! A unique red wine, a mix of chardonnay and gamay made by accident! A wine that you absolutely must discover here! Thank you Pierre Cotton! |
