A Box favorite1/ Régnié 2022 by Marine Bonnet and Pierre Cotton. Did you know that the Beaujolais "Régnié" cru was the last to join the list of 9 other Beaujolais crus in 1988: a list of 10 crus! Marine and Pierre's work is extremely precise, with very old vines, this Régnié is dense, complex and will no doubt still be dashing and youthful in a few years' time! A wine that leaves no one indifferent. |
2/ Beaujolais Villages 2022 by Jean-Claude Lapalu. We particularly like Beaujolais wines when the Gamay grape expresses itself with fluidity, freshness and simplicity (without being pejorative). Wine should be drunk, enjoyed and shared. It's often synonymous with conviviality. So yes, Jean Claude Lapalu's work on this cuvée is highly representative of what we're looking for. We love it! 3/ Chénas - Les Carrières 2022 du Winery Thillardon (brothers and sisters). Chénas, another Beaujolais cru, is the smallest of the Beaujolais appellations and owes its name to the ancient presence of oak trees. In the end, these wines are quite rare and little known. That's why we like the idea of talking about them, and more specifically about the Thillardons' work. Paul-Henri trained alongside Jean-Louis Dutraiv and Yvon Métras. What a school! Les Carrières 2020 is elegant, fleshy, floral and fruity. A good balance between freshness and structure! Top-notch!
