All about organic and natural Beaujolais wines
Beaujolais: red wines... and white wines!
Beaujolais is a French wine region located north of Lyon. It is composed of by 3 departments: Rhône, Loire, and Saône et Loire. Almost all Beaujolais wines are red wines, made from Grape variety Gamay. The Gamay grape likes granitic soils, and in the Beaujolais, it is well suited. The Beaujolais vineyards are located either on predominantly granitic soils or on predominantly clay-limestone soils. We therefore find red wines of character, fresh and very representative of the terroir. But we also find the Grape variety Chardonnay, for great white wines that should not be missed.
Recognised worldwide, largely thanks to the Baujolais Nouveau, this region nevertheless enjoys a wide variety of different appellations. Let us recall here the 12 appellations of Beaujolais: Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Brouilly, Chenas, Chiroubles, Côte de Brouilly, Morgon, Fleurie, Juliénas, Moulin-à-Vent, Régnié, Saint Amour.
