WHY BE TEMPTED :
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS BOXGetting started: 1/ Alex Foillard, brings out of his cellar a Brouilly on 2018 that we had the opportunity to taste again at the Beaujoloise shows in April 2024. This Brouilly is a perfect example of what the years in bottle bring to Gamay: aromatic complexity with evolved notes while retaining freshness. A perfect skeleton, with fine tannins and great fluidity! Next up is 2/ Régnié 2022 by Marine Bonnet and Pierre Cotton. Did you know that Régnié was the last of the crus to join the list of 9 other Beaujolais crus in 1988: a list of 10 crus! Marine and Pierre's work is extremely precise, with very old vines. This Régnié is dense and complex, and will no doubt still be dashing and young in a few years' time! |
Then a very tasty, fresh, fluid, juicy wine, the cuvée : 3/ Prémices 2022 on the appellation Beaujolais Villages de Rémy et Laurence (Winery Dufaitre). It is the crisp wine of Box (We'd love to bite into it!) And 3 other "Beaujolais" wines from our selection that we like 4/ Morgon 2023 - Winery Marcel Lapierre. This is a wine, a Morgon, a Winery must-have, given Marcel Lapierre's pioneering role in the 'natural' wine movement. His children have taken up the torch since 2010, and play in the perfect continuity of this work: carbonic maceration in whole bunches, gentle, little extraction, preserving the freshness, fruit and skeleton of the Gamay grape, and adding little or no sulfite. This cuvée is the version without added sulfite. Next, the famous 5/ Morgon Côte de Py by Jean Foillard from the 2022 vintage. Finally, to end on a recent discovery,
