EXCLUSIVITY at Petites Caves (by Jean Delobre and Jacques Maurice)
STORY: Bogy, Ardèche, on a frosty morning in January 2020. A cellar tour with Jean Delobre, tasting several terroirs, several barrels. It takes quite a long time, as there are in fact several cellars! But the choice is easy enough, as the chosen barrel appears crisp, supple and surprisingly well-structured for a Syrah, especially 4 months after harvest! Yes, this is indeed a Saint-Joseph, a reflection of its terroir, just the way we like it.
TASTING: A beautiful Syrah with red and black fruits. Floral and slightly peppery notes. This Saint-Joseph is a dynamic, well-balanced red wine with a clean, fresh finish!
Further information:
VINEYARDS:Agrobiological cultivation (total respect for the expression of the terroir).
TERROIR: plot on shallow granite soils above the Rhône. Eastern exposure.
Grape variety : 30-year-old Syrah.
VINIFICATION: 20-day maceration with light pumping-over. Fermentation without yeast or addition of S02. Addition at bottling of 15mg/L (almost nothing). No filtration.
AGEING: 12 months in barrel.
PRODUCTION: one barrel = 307 bottles only... exclusively for and at Petites Caves !
