The Winery Yoyo

Natural wines in the heart of the Banyuls region

Winery Yoyo is the story of Laurence Manya-Krief, known as "Yoyo", Winemaker of pure juice in Banyuls in Roussillon. Her wine project is the result of a professional reconversion, as Yoyo used to work in fashion in Paris. A world far removed from the vine!

Born in Perpignan, she returned to her roots and settled in Banyuls where she began a titanic work on the steep slopes of Banyuls.

A certified organic vineyard between sea and mountains

Here the soil (mostly black schist) cannot be worked mechanically, everything is done by animal traction or with a pickaxe and elbow grease, sometimes under a blazing sun. Some of the vines are planted on stakes.
Winery has been working organically since 2004 (certification in 2008) and now has 7 ha, of which 4 ha are in Banyuls (spread over 7 plots, mainly old vines) and 3 ha in the Piémont des Albères (natural border with Spain).

Pure natural wines from Roussillon!

As in the vineyard, the vinification is done naturally, with indigenous yeasts and without the addition of synthetic products (no sulphur either!). The vinification is done in the cellar that she shares with her partner Jean-François Nick (Domaine des Foulards Rouges).

Unlike the overpowering wines that the region can make, at Winery Yoyo we focus on freshness, drinkability, with a concentration on the fruit. Yields vary according to grape variety, plot and age of the vines, between 10 and 20 hl/ha only.

These wines deserve a little airing as they are often a little gassy when opened, so don't hesitate to shake them a little or decant them before serving.
