Our opinion on this wine
Champagne Rémy Leroy Brut Nature non dosé
"The fine, airy nose reveals notes of spices, white fruit and brioche. The palate is fresh, structured, balanced and creamy. The finish is taut and persistent."
This Brut Nature cuvée from Maison Rémi Leroy is based on the same blend as the Extra-Brut, but with two differences: this one benefits from a special bottle ageing process, with each bottle cuffed :to re-suspend the lees, and prolonged ageing on laths.
This Brut Nature is predominantly Pinot Noir (65%), one-third Chardonnay (30%) and a touch of Meunier (5%). The grapes come from Meurville in the Côte des Bar region. The vineyard, which is around twenty years old, is situated on slopes, but the particularity of the Meurville cru is the very poor clay-limestone soils with a shallow layer of soil. On such soils, where the vine must naturally suffer to ensure its growth, Rémy's viticulture produces fruit and juices of remarkable typicity.
