We're talking to you about his Winery
The Hautes Terres de Comberousse, in the S-E of Montpellier: the production, like the Winery, is atypical. Unusual blends give superb and complex results on 5 cuvées, including the flagship cuvée of Winery : Roucaillat. A natural wine that can be drunk young, but which gains in complexity over time. There, on the hillside of the Mourre, we discover the vat shed and the maison. All this in a world of cactus loaded with prickly pears, wild fig trees, rockery and many scents. Settled in 1973, the Reder family raised sheep and in 1981 planted its first vines. | Chasan and chardonnay, then white grenache, rolle and roussanne. Choice of white grape varieties in a region where whites are traditionally very much in the minority or even non-existent. Today Paul Reder alone manages the 14 hectares of vines planted between 140 and 180 metres above sea level. Only a part of the wines is bottled, a large part is still sold in bulk to wine merchants. Paul Reder never uses fertilizers or organic matter. The very dry, very permeable soil is naturally rich and the vine invades it at maximum depth to feed itself. |
