We talk to you about Winery by Judith Beck
Judith Beck's family Winery is located in Burgenland. This is the flattest state in the country, but also the warmest. This state is known for the quality of its red wines. It stretches from the Slovakian border in the north to the Slovenian border in the south and along the Hungarian border. LOCATIONS :Due to the diversity of soils, there is a wide variety of grape varieties in this region. The vineyards of Gols can be roughly divided into three soil types:. On the gravel plateau of Parndorfer Platte: fairly cool and windy locations, relatively permeable soils, well suited for Sant Laurent, Pinot Noir and Zweigelt - e.g. Schafleiten, Goldberg . . Slopes at the edge of the Parndorfer Platte: south-western orientation, sandy loam soils with limestone inclusions, particularly favoured by Blaufränkisch - e.g. Altenberg, Gabarinza... . Flat sites near the lake (Heideboden), tectonically lowered, Seewinkel gravels well suited for Zweigelt grapes and for whites.
HISTORY :Judith Beck acquired her knowledge at the Klosterneuburg wine school and even more in numerous internships at Cos d'Estournel (France), Braida (Italy) and Errazuriz (Chile). Her goal: to take over the wine business from her father Matthias. And it is indeed with her father that she started her first vinifications in 2001. She has been running the Winery since 2004. In 2007, with the help of her husband Uli, she converted the entire vineyard to biodynamic farming. The Winery covers an area of about 15 ha. |
For Judith and her husband, "St Laurent and Blaufränkisch are two very interesting grape varieties, as complex to vinify as they are complicated to work with, but with fabulous potential. Her St Laurent Schafleiten and INK cuvées are fine examples of this!
HIS WINES :The Red Wines : Judith explains : "The fermentation of the red wines takes place spontaneously (indigenous yeasts) in stainless steel tanks or open tanks. Some red wines are aged in large wooden barrels of several wines. The large wooden barrel allows the light fruits of Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch to express themselves and is therefore a very valuable container for us. When maturing our wines, we do not use stainless steel at all because, in our opinion, the wine must breathe to develop." We were thrilled - even bewitched - by the quality of the wines of Judith Beck that we had the chance to taste. We particularly liked the red wines St-Laurent Schafleiten and INK! Gourmet, fine wines, full of black fruits and spices. And an incredible touch! Well done and thank you Judith. Macht weiter so! |
