Why choose an organic white wine?
The quality and richness of a white wine are no longer in question: organic wines are even preferred to classic wines when tasted blind. When you know how much the winegrowers work and invest in the land in accordance with the environment and biodiversity, it is not surprising! The organic designation (AB) meets very strict European specifications: no chemical products or herbicides to treat the vines, mechanical viticulture, practices that respect the fauna and flora and natural fertilisation. In addition to its authentic taste, an organic white wine is naturally better for your health. Choose a white wine without sulphites to avoid a headache the next day, or a biodynamic white wine to defend the philosophy and work of our winemakers.
What is special about organic white wine?
A white wine is the result of alcoholic fermentation after pressing of grapes with coloured or uncoloured skins. There is a wide variety of white wines due to different factors: the large number of grape varieties, the multitude of terroirs, the methods of vinification and maturation, and the difference in the residual sugar content (sweetness). Among the main grape varieties in France are aligoté, chardonnay, gewurztraminer, grenache blanc, melon, muscat, riesling, sauvignon, riesling, sylvaner, pinot blanc, pineau menu, roussanne, marsanne, macabeu, vermentinu, and chenin...
How to choose the right organic white wine according to your preferences?
Although it is simplistic to separate them into just three categories, you can distinguish three main families of organic white wine:
● Dry white wines: a dry white is expressive. It can have a fruity, floral, spicy, herbaceous or mineral side, but also sometimes brioche, toasted or buttered notes...
● Sweet white wines: a sweet white wine is perfect with, for example, foie gras, white fruit tarts, exotic dishes or blue cheeses. With an average of 10 to 45 g of sugar per litre, it is soft in the mouth. Its success is based on the right balance between sweetness (softness) and acidity (freshness). This is even more true of a sweet wine.
● Sweet white wines: a sweet white is sweeter, with a syrupy appearance. The aromas can be more complex than for a sweet or dry white wine.
