We're talking to you about his Winery
It has been about ten years now that Bruno Debon (former photographer, graduate of the National School of Photography in Arles) has made a 180° turn to initially "make organic apples". 2500 apple trees (6 varieties) planted from 2010. He sells the totality of his production (fruits and juices, dried apples, composites) through the network of the AMAP and some beautiful tables of the region. The 2ha of vines being there on the Winery, to continue this same work in bio made sense. Meetings and friendships with Cyril Fhal, Jean-Christophe Comor, ... have taken him slowly towards more freedom. In 2018, Bruno Debon's work tends to even more respect for his environment and beyond an organic certification, he "is surely looking for a humanity, a sharing, an even more honest road." 2018 was a year "marked by a deep desire to discover these wines more alive, these good juices that stir up greed. A journey where nature is an ally, where man participates more and more, as a farmer, as a humble artist and the meetings of winemakers and other enthusiasts make me follow a freer and more demanding path no doubt" - Bruno Debon himself :-) |
The Winery Terres des Nus, located in Châteaudouble in the Var, is barely 2 ha of vines and 1 ha of apple orchard in front of the maison at the bottom of a limestone canyon. Further down, in the plain, there are three small plots of vines (50 year old Syrah, 20 year old Grenache, Vermentino (or called Rolle) and Roussane) and freshly planted thyme. Above Châteaudouble at an altitude of 600m, a plot ready to welcome Savagnin and then there is "Lo mas d'en garrigue" a beautiful old 70 year old macabeu vine on a schist terroir, facing north-east, which rises to a ridge above the village of Montner in the eastern Pyrenees. Vines found by Cyril Fhal (Clos Rouge-Gorge) a friend of Bruno Debon. These old vines are worked, pruned and harvested for Bruno and Cyril, and often vinified at Cyril's place. Everything is worked in organic (Ecocert certified) and all the wines are without inputs. |
