Thibault Ducroux is a son of winemaker in the Beaujolais and his passion comes from there. He learns the basics of the trade with his father. However he does not stop there and quickly wishes to understand more about soils, wine, nature. Direction the BTS viti-oeno in St-Jean d'arrières (69). At the same time he discovered the writings of Jules Chauvet (the father of "natural" oenology) who challenged him and convinced him that there were other possible ways.
With his pilgrim's staff in hand, he sets off to meet Jean Claude Lapalu, Michel Guignier, Valentin Morel (Jura) and Isabelle and Bruno Perraud (Vauxrenard). Straight out of his BTS, Thibault Ducroux, leaves to work for Julien Sunier where he learns how to work the soil and the vines, all using organic methods, and then how to vinify "natural" wines. |
At the same time, Thibault Ducroux buys 1.25 ha in the Beaujolais appellation which he cultivates organically (vines in conversion). His first wine "En roue libre" is born on the 2019 vintage. From 2020 on, 5 ha are worked in the Morgon and Fleurie appellations. Thibault Ducroux seems to have a good head on his shoulders and our meeting was a good time to exchange and listen. We are happy to be able to participate in the launch of young winegrowers! |
