We're telling you about their Winery
Marcel Lapierre was THE master of sulphur-free wine in the Beaujolais and recognized as such throughout France. Since his death in 2010, his son Mathieu and his daughter Camille have continued this remarkable viticultural and vinicultural work in Villié-Morgon. As a great intellectual, artist and teacher, Marcel Lapierre discovered the precepts of Jules Chauvet, researcher and father of the natural winesIn 1981, he decided to direct the family Winery (3rd generation of winegrowers) towards gentler and less interventionist methods. Since then, the philosophy has remained the same: to go more natural through biodynamics. In viticulture, the Lapierres do not hesitate to plough the soil to keep it alive and only use organic treatments. The hand-picked grapes are carefully sorted and refreshed if necessary. |
The vinification without any input of whole grapes continues just as rigorously until the maturing in barrels and foudres (some of them 13 years old!) for a minimum of 9 months. Finally, the blending allows three types of cuvées to be bottled on the Morgon cru: one bottled without sulphur or filtration, one lightly sulphited to stabilise, and one sulphited and filtered. But the Winery Lapierre also offers other cuvées on its 16.5 hectares - including 2 ha on the famous Côte du Py - such as a Vin de France "Raisins Gaulois" and, exceptionally, a great cuvée for ageing on Morgon, the "Marcel Lapierre" cuvée. The organic wines (ah the gamay!) of the Lapierre family are Beaujolais of the highest quality, wines of the terroir, which smell of grapes, this fruit so exciting when it is worked so beautifully! |
