How to choose your Alsace natural wine

What is a Vin Nature d'Alsace?

Here, you'll find a selection of wines from winemakers committed to protecting biodiversity and the soil to preserve the vines. In other words, these are wines with no added inputs or sulfites. Not to mention that the vines are organic or biodynamic. By choosing the natural method, you're choosing to consume wines that are committed to good, sustainable viticulture.

What are the different natural wines of Alsace?

The Alsace region covers more than 170km of vineyards. This region offers a wide choice of Grape variety wines, from Riesling to Gewurztraminer. It appeals to all palates with dry, sweet, still and sparkling wines. All these options are made possible by the cool, temperate climate of Alsace's natural wines.

As a result, Alsace is the benchmark for crémant production.

What are the differences between Pinot blanc and Pinot gris?

Both come from the same Grape variety Pinot, but have distinct profiles and flavors.

Pinot Blanc is a natural wine from Alsace, fresh, light and crisp. On the nose, aromas of white fruit and white flowers.

Pinot gris, on the other hand, is rich and full-bodied. Ripe fruit, pear and apple aromas, with occasional hints of honey. On the palate, there's an oily texture.

How does this region fit in?

Alsace's natural wines are renowned for their diversity and their ability to accompany a wide range of dishes.

Gewurztraminer is an aromatic wine with hints of exotic fruit that goes very well with a cheese platter. You can also opt for a Crémant. The bubbles will balance the intense taste of the cheese.

If you're more of a carnivore, don't worry, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc will be your allies. Whether you're looking for a light or bold dish, each of these varietals will combine perfectly to provide you with an enjoyable moment.

Also, for seafood lovers, opt for a Pinot Blanc or Sylvaner Blanc. They are more easily digested, elegant and will underline the iodized taste of seafood.
