We're talking to you about his Winery
Vincent Gaudry's Winery is located in the village of Sury-en-Vaux, just outside Sancerre. Here he offers sauvignon cuvées full of life and carried by a sharp minerality that reflects the terroir of Sancerre.
The small village of winemaker of Sury-en-Vaux is situated below the hill of Sancerre. Vincent Gaudry's family has been growing vines there for several generations. Vincent started working there alongside his father from 1991 to 1993 before leaving for his military service the following year. At that time, the vines were worked with chemicals; it was on Vincent's return to Winery that an important change of direction was taken. He decided to put aside chemicals in favour of a healthier agriculture, for the vineyard and for his family. In 1997, his father passed the torch to him and Vincent Gaudry took over the family Winery . At that time, the whole of Winery was worked organically (it was certified as Organic Agriculture in 2002). In the meantime, Vincent became very interested in biodynamics; Winery was also certified by Demeter in 2014. |
The vineyard (11 hectares in total) is located around the village of Sury-en-Vaux and Vincent is fortunate to have vines on all three terroirs of Sancerre, namely Kimmeridgian limestone, clay-limestone and flint. A large part of Winery is composed of old vines. Always listening to the Ancients, Vincent Gaudry is looking for the taste of the Sancerre wines of the past, wines of terroir, of ageing, wines with substance. The different cuvées are vinified naturally: indigenous yeasts for the fermentations and ageing in truncated wooden and stainless steel vats, as well as in French oak barrels. The wines are very lightly sulphited at bottling. Bottling is done by hand by Vincent himself, using a "goat" with two spouts. The aim is to avoid rushing the wine during bottling by means of brutal pumping. His wines have a clean, crisp profile and are marked by a strong minerality, reflecting the terroir of Sancerre. We are pleased to offer you three white Sancerre cuvées. Complementary cuvées with a straightforward profile. Wines of emotion and gastronomy! |
