Created from scratch in 1997 on wasteland in the province of Siena by the two Padovani sisters, this Winery is becoming a reference point for natural Italian wine.
The Winery " Campi di Fonterenza " is located near the village of Sant' Angelo in Colle south of Montalcino. It is in an old farmhouse that has been renovated many times over the centuries and is ancestrally known for the quality of its water (Fonte) that Margherita and Francesca Padovani, the "Twins of Brunello", carry out their life project which, if it was first linked to the cultivation of olive trees, was later largely extended into wine-growing.
The first contact of the two Milanese sisters with their future land dates back to 1976 when, as children, they accompanied their parents on holiday to the old farmhouse of Sant'Angelo in Colle. At the time, rural life in the area was still very archaic, but the twins became very attached to the area and its inhabitants. Years later, while they were studying languages in Milan, they felt the need to return to the farm in Montalcino. Not very attached to city life, they abandoned university to return to rural life.
The twins manage their 4 hectares of vines organically. The Sangiovese grape variety expresses its complexity in different forms: the fruit of Pettirosso, the power of Rosso di Montalcino and the delicate seriousness of Brunello. Also, a very old vineyard of Trebbiano and Malvasia gives a magnificent white maceration: Biancospino. A reference of Italian natural wine, without any doubt.
