Caroline Ledenté's wines, Grain par Grain

Caroline Ledenté is now Winemaker in the Bugey region after having worked as an engineer in the Paris area. Quite a change of life!

Bugey, the new Eldorado of natural wines

This wild and landlocked region is difficult to apprehend. In the Bugey, we find many local grape varieties such as altesse, jacquère or mondeuse blanche for the whites and mondeuse or poulsard which often complements pinots noirs and gamays for the production of rosés. The Bugey is a style of wine with good acidity, coated with beautiful aromatic expressions while being relatively low in alcohol.

The arrival of young winemakers in organic agriculture

The future was dark in the region with the retirement of many winegrowers who were not replaced. But the boom in organic viticulture has changed everything. 30% of the vineyards in the Bugey region have the organic label! With its indigenous grape varieties and its accessible land, Bugey attracts the young generation of "natural" winegrowers who want to work cleanly thanks to isolated plots of land, often in a single block, and offer wines that reach good maturity without too much alcohol, making global warming a less imminent threat than in other regions.

Caroline Ledenté's favorite place in Bugey !

After having met many winegrowers, notably in the Jura where Caroline did her viticultural training, our young Winemaker settled in the Bugey region where she found a few vineyards to take over. "I had never heard of the Bugey! Yet, what finesse, what aromatic profiles! I was smitten from the first sip! I took a closer look and realized that I had discovered wines that I really liked.

Wines already straight and chiseled

Caroline claims to be a "good student" and makes natural wines without inputs that are already precise, without any deviance. Vinification without addition of sulfite.

During our first tasting, we found the wines to be incredibly pure, fine and elegant.

Let yourself be tempted by these 1st vintages of Caroline!
