We're talking to you about his Winery
At just 30 years of age, Catherine Riss can be proud of having succeeded in her challenge to become a talented Winemaker . In Alsace (as elsewhere) it is a complicated challenge when you come from a family without Winery. With parents who are restaurant owners, Catherine Riss was supposed to continue in this direction. But this was without counting on her pugnacious temperament. After a BTS in wine and oenology, a diploma in oenology and some professional experience, Catherine Riss was hired by Michel Chapoutier to look after a Winery acquired in Alsace at Reichsfeld. Then, in 2012, her adventure began on 1.3 hectares of land with the precious help of Antoine Kreydenweiss and Lucas Rieffel (with whom she worked until 2014). In 2015 she moved to her own premises. | Catherine Riss now works on 2.8ha with a range of 4 wines: assemblage, 2 riesling and a pinot noir. Her work in the vineyards has been oriented towards organic farming from the start and she obtained her certification in 2015. Precise, hard-working, Catherine seeks above all the mineral extraction and dry balance of her wines. It is a remarkable work in the vineyards and an increasingly biodynamic approach that give her wines an astonishing typicity, a fruitiness, a balance and an incredible minerality. What knowledge! We can say it, Catherine Riss is a talented Winemaker who has not finished making a name for herself. Hats off to her! |
