The wines of WineryHors Ciel
A family of winemakerWinery Hors Ciel, in the Minervois region of the Languedoc, is the brainchild of Victor Gourreau and Emma Olson, his American partner. Victor is a child of the region, the grandson of winemaker, and has always been immersed in the wine world. From the age of 10, Victor was already picking grapes. After his general studies, at the age of 19, Victor left for Italy for his first experiences in the wine industry, as a sommelier, and as a wine tourist, he touched on everything in the wine world. Organic and biodynamic vineyardsHe was fascinated by the world of fermentation, and more specifically the fermentation process. He gained further experience in beer brewing and then in baking. It was during an internship in Portland (USA), in a bakery, that he met Emma. |
Back in the Minervois, the couple will try their hand at winemaking in 2019 at home, in their maison, with dames-jeannes (glass bottles). These experiences motivated them to buy 3 hectares of vines. This is the beginning of Winery Hors-Ciel! This one is essentially composed of mourvèdre, which they manage according to organic and biodynamic principles. The Winery Hors Ciel was born.2021 is therefore the first vintage of this young Winery. Their approach to this first vintage and its three cuvees is based on very gentle extractions, different vinifications and infusions of mourvèdre. The result is amazing, airy, fluid, fresh, juicy and beautifully balanced. For a first official vintage, it's a tip of the hat to Victor and Emma. Thank you for your confidence! |
