The wines of Jean Claude Lapalu
A real winemaker of BeaujolaisJean Claude Lapalu has been living in Saint-Etienne-la-Varenne in the Beaujolais since 1996. You might as well say that in more than 25 years, our winemaker beaujolais knows his Winery like the back of his hand. Each parcel has its own characteristics, the exposure, the slope, nothing escapes him. Jean Claude Lapalu therefore offers us natural wines that are very representative of their terroirs. An extraordinary natural wineWhen we talk about winemaker-artisan, we understand better the qualifiers of typical, personalised and complex wines. This is the case of Jean-Claude Lapalu and his Beaujolais. Jean-Claude offers some extra-ordinary cuvées to discover, particularly his "des Fous", "Croix des Rameaux" and his famous Beaujolais Nouveau. At the head of 12 hectares of granite soil at the foot of Mont Brouilly, he quickly decided to work in his own way, under the influence of Jules Chauvet, oenologist and precursor of "natural" wines. The 8 plots of old Gamay vines (up to 70 years old) naturally give lower yields and present particular characteristics according to the soils and their location. |
An organic wine by LapaluJean-Claude further reduces the yields by severely sorting the harvest to one third. The juices are not filtered and are rich in taste, intensity and length. Carbonic and semi-carbonic maceration bring freshness and crispness to the various cuvées, which are all fermented in stainless steel tanks. Very few sulphites are added for the most natural wine possible. The more or less long maturation periods underline the beautiful subtlety of these unusual wines, all in power and finesse. Tasting a Jean Claude Lapalu wine is an incredible experience, the know-how of a winemaker and the complexity of his terroir transcribed into wines. Very good tasting and thank you Jean Claude! |
