The Languedoc: an increasingly renowned wine region
One of France's largest wine regions, the Languedoc is a land of many emotions and a long way to come. From the east of Montpellier to Narbonne, the wines have long had a bad reputation, but today many winegrowers claim to be typical of their terroirs through meticulous work in both viticulture and vinification. From now on, and to see more clearly in this mosaic of expression, it will be necessary to count on 3 levels: theAppellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) Languedoc, the AOP Grand Vin du Languedoc and finally the AOP Grand Cru du Languedoc.
The diversity of Languedoc wines
The production is globally in reds, then rosés, whites with some sweet wines and sparkling wines. The range of grape varieties is very wide: grenache, syrah, carignan, mourvèdre and cinsault for the reds; white or grey grenache, clairette, vermentino, viognier, among others, for the whites.
