How to choose your Jura natural wine
What is Vin Nature du Jura?
Vin Nature du Jura is produced in the Jura wine-growing region of eastern France. It is produced according to organic or biodynamic viticulture practices. This wine is vinified with little or no chemical intervention. The winemakers who produce it tend to minimize the use of sulfites and other additives. Instead, they prefer a more natural, traditional approach.
What are the specific characteristics of Jura soils?
This region boasts a wealth of landscapes and a great diversity of soils: slopes, hillocks, hills... The vines are planted in these different landscapes, making each wine unique.
The Jura vineyards are composed of limestone soils, which bring freshness. They are also round and fruity. Marl soils bring lightness, body and finesse.
In contrast, Burgundy's natural wines are elegant, fruity bombshells.
What color to choose for natural Jura wines?
Jura wines are distinguished by their unusual grape varieties, such as Savagnin, Poulsard and Trousseau, with different profiles. The Grape variety Savagnin, renowned for its yellow wine aged under veil, develops aromas of walnut, green apple and spicy notes.
There isn't really a distinctive color for natural Jura wines, but there are rosés and light reds from Grape variety poulsard. On the other hand, for fans of wines with more character, the natural red wines from Trousseau will be perfect.
Which grape varieties are used in Jura vin nature?
The grape varieties used in the production of these wines vary. However, some of the most common in the Jura region include Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard and Trousseau. Secondly, Jura wines are often characterized by their unique expression of terroir. Their flavors and aromas reflect the specific conditions of the region where the grapes were grown.
However, if you're looking for a different kind of natural wine, we have a selection of natural white wine, natural red wine and, for the curious, natural orange wine.
