We're talking to you about his Winery

La Maison en Belles lies first and foremost with Pierre Fenals, winemaker who is passionate about producing high quality biodynamic and natural wines.

An astonishing journey as that of Pierre Fenals. After studying organic chemistry and molecular biochemistry, he first worked for pharmaceutical laboratories on the outskirts of Paris, then he accompanied his wife on a professional adventure around the world of fashion and decoration.
Pierre has always been passionate about wine and was interested in Rudolph Steiner's work on Biodynamics. At the age of 52, he decided to give it all up and enrolled at the Beaune wine school! His goal: to go back to the land and make the wine he loves.
He did a series of jobs for 7 years as a vineyard worker on several estates in Burgundy and the Beaujolais region. From the cooperative winery to the conventional winemaker or by stopping by Emmanuel Giboulot (a leader in Biodynamics in Burgundy), Pierre Fenals wants to see it all. He wants to understand, as he says.

In 2008, he took the big leap and bought a few hectares of vines. Then in 2009, with the financial help of a few friends, Pierre moved to Saint-Aubin where he created Maison in Belles Lies. At first, he cultivates 2.5 hectares of vines and completes his production by buying 3.5 hectares of organic grapes or grapes in the process of being converted.

His vines are grown biodynamically and he buys his grapes from winegrowers who work in this way and with whom he shares a lot. All his herbal teas and purines are prepared and spread by him and he uses only natural copper and volcanic sulphur to protect and fortify his vines. He also allows himself some small ploughing from time to time to control the grassing and allow the vines to breathe. Nature, quoi!
In the winery, all the wines are first vinified in vats and then put into barrels (of several wines) by gravity in the cellar. The wines produced have no inputs, except a little bit of sulphur in homeopathic doses. For the most part, the vintages are without added sulphite and everything is done in accordance with the lunar calendar (cultivation, vinification, ageing). Definitely natural!
Today Pierre Fenals works 6 hectares of vines (three of which are in Beaujolais) and offers many prestigious Burgundy appellations such as Aloxe-Corton, Corton Charlemagne or Corton Perrière...

It is with great pleasure that we propose you to discover the different vintages of La Maison en Belles Lies, organic and natural wines. They are worth the detour... naturally!
